The area is full of delicious restaurants and comfortable hotels, giving you the ability to plan a trip for as long as you’d like. You can go on a river kayak adventure through The Gathering Place, grab a drink from the Blue Dome Entertainment District, treat yourself to a new wardrobe from Utica Square, and take a tour of the zoo. If museums are more your speed, then you can check out the Tulsa Air and Space Museum, the Philbrook Art Museum, or the Western-themed Gilcrease Museum. The city is a short 1.5-hour drive from OKC.

Salt Plains State Park

Salt Plains is a State Park with a number of different outdoor activities a short trip from OKC. Throughout prehistoric times, the area was covered by the ocean. Today, the remaining salt has made the area barren, giving you plenty of blank space to explore. The area allows people to bring their horses and keep them at the equestrian campgrounds. Nearby, the lake is stocked with fish, and the migratory bird path guarantees birdwatchers will have their best day ever! The park lets you hike, canoe, kayak, and bike. They have plenty of campgrounds as well as rentable cabins, giving you the chance to stay as long as you’d like. The drive from Oklahoma City is about 2.5 hours long.
