Scissortail Park

Scissortail Park in Oklahoma City strives to bring Oklahoma’s natural beauty to life in a safe and welcoming environment that encourages play, community, stewardship, culture, and education. This is a great place to visit during the summer. The Scissortail Park playground features a climbing structure, tall slides, and the Play Pavilion, where families can host parties and picnics. 

Visitors can also enjoy beautiful sights throughout the Upper and Lower Park, whether on a bike, scooter, or skates. Families can also do a scavenger hunt along the park’s trails.

Scissortail Park has many water activities and facilities that are fun activities during the summer. Visitors can enjoy water attractions at the Boathouse, like renting a pedal boat or a kayak. The Boathouse opens during the spring, and the Sprayground (splash pad) opens in May.

Rides include the Bermuda Triangle, a tube slide; the Big Kahuna, where visitors can enjoy a splash landing in a 4-foot pool; Blackbeard’s Revenge, which is a 300-foot body slide; Calypso Cannonball, a 100-foot enclosed body slide; Castaway Creek, a leisurely lazy river; Dive Bomb, a heart-pounding freefall slide; and Hurricane Bay, where the whole family can enjoy playing in the waves.

Wheeler District

Wheeler District is a growing, vibrant community on the south bank of the Oklahoma River. This development features walking trails, bike paths, dining, parks, the river, and a Ferris wheel. This 150-acre site includes the former downtown airpark and has bike access to the Oklahoma River Trail network. This area is full of attractions for all visitors, including small businesses, shops, restaurants, rides, and much more. 

This is a place where visitors can do some casual shopping or grab drinks at a local brewery. The district is a walkable, bikeable community with spectacular city skyline views. The streets are filled with shopping and dining. 

The Wheeler District features a Ferris wheel rescued from the Santa Monica Pier and brought to Oklahoma City. It has become an instant landmark and gathering place, an enjoyable destination for young and old visitors alike. 

The Wheeler District hosts a farmers market where visitors can shop for fresh produce, baked goods, and pantry staples. This growing community is a place that is constantly evolving and is full of chances for summer adventures.
