As a mom myself, I am constantly trying to find the best spots where I can take my kids when it’s time to break out of the ordinary routine. Myriad Botanical Gardens

Whether you’re looking for engaging events or just want a space where your toddlers can explore, Myriad Botanical Gardens is the perfect Oklahoma City place for you. Nestled on over 15 acres, this spot offers exceptional views as well as experts dedicated to keeping you learning. The Children’s Garden features a playground that incorporates natural elements. They have annual events such as the Children’s Garden Festival, where your child can listen to stories, complete activities, attend scavenger hunts, and more. Throughout the year, you can also check out regular events, including Reading Wednesdays and skate nights at the gardens’ ice rink. 

Oklahoma Railway Museum

If your Oklahoma City toddlers are train enthusiasts, you have to check out the Oklahoma Railway Museum. This center offers an interactive way to learn all about this beloved form of transportation. Your family will get the chance to see trains throughout history. Go and see some old train depots or walk through passenger cars. You’ll see the tools that built these engines, as well as model train sets that give you a bird’s eye view. The best part about this museum is definitely the rides. Every two hours, a train departs the museum, taking along passengers who want to experience the machines firsthand. 

Wheeler District

The Wheeler District has a little bit of something for everyone. Once April hits, the area opens up and gives your family plenty of green space to explore. Enjoy some yard games or take a spin on the Ferris wheel. There’s a giant OKC sign that welcomes any kid who wants to try their hand at a small climb. You can check out some food from the taco restaurant or grab a latte at the coffee shop. And while you’re in the District, make sure you check out the local businesses, including a home market, a brewery and taproom, and a pretty wonderful photography studio where you can schedule some stunning family portraits.

Science Museum Oklahoma

Science Museum Oklahoma works to ignite your child’s curiosity so they can have the best time ever without even realizing they’re learning. The Oklahoma City center contains two floors packed with exhibits toddlers and adults will adore. There are live shows and hands-on exhibits that teach your child all about the world around them. You can also stop by for the weekly storytimes created for younger visitors. The museum is careful to create an accessible experience every person can enjoy. They have designated quiet areas and have maps that lay out potential triggers, including flickering lights or loud noises. 

Metro Gymnastics

7420 Broadway Ext, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73116

It’s never too early to get your child started in gymnastics. It builds up coordination and balance that will benefit them for years to come. While Metro Gymnastics offers weekly classes, they provide open play hours so your child can try it out at their own speed. For two hours, your child can drop in and learn some helpful skills. The sessions are available for kids ages 4 and under and do not require a reservation. There are also Parents’ Night Out sessions that give you a break while making sure your child has a fantastic time! 

Oklahoma City Zoo

The Oklahoma City Zoo is the ideal place for mini-adventurers for toddlers! This beloved location offers a long list of activities, so you can make every single visit feel brand new. There’s a children’s zoo with a barnyard where kids can get up close and personal with some of their favorite animals. The Elephant Express Train is there to take you all across the zoo and give you premium access to the exhibits. You can feed some parakeets, ride a camel, or give the rhinos a snack. Before you leave, you absolutely have to take a spin on the carousel with endangered species carved out of basswood.

We Rock The Spectrum

We Rock The Spectrum is an indoor Oklahoma City playground created to be accessible to every child,  even toddlers. The center celebrates kids of all abilities and works hard to create an inclusive space where they can be themselves. The philosophy at We Rock The Spectrum is that no parent should ever have to apologize for their child. They offer open play for kids from infancy up. There’s a gym where your child can explore, as well as an arts and crafts section. At the end of every day, they scrub the facility with green products so you don’t have to worry about germs or chemicals during your visit. 

Jump!Zone

When Jump!Zone isn’t throwing the best birthday parties around. They’re opening their doors for free play. The center provides huge inflatables that let your child release all their energy. You’ll find an obstacle course, a bounce house, and an indoor playground. The experts behind Jump!Zone wanted to create a space where kids could stay active in a safe, climate-controlled setting. Local parents help keep things under control while making sure you have a spot where you’ll feel right at home.
